Recovery Coaches: Your Allies in Recovery

What is a Recovery Coach?

At SCO, our recovery coaches (CRPA’s) are the heart and soul of our support system. They are individuals in long-term stable recovery who are passionate about helping others navigate their recovery journey.

Our coaches are certified by the New York State Certification Board and recognized by New York State Office of Addiction Services and Support (OASAS) and bring a wealth of training and personal experience to the table. Driven by a shared commitment to provide the support they wish they had during their own recovery, our coaches prioritize building caring relationships, sharing personal experiences, and collaborating to tailor support to each individual's unique needs.

How Can I Receive Support in Navigating Drug Court?

Two of our dedicated recovery coaches are your Peers in drug court. They work closely with individuals in the Albany Treatment Court (ATC), offering invaluable guidance and encouragement as peers who have experienced similar challenges. Our peer coaches collaborate with the ATC's multidisciplinary team to create personalized plans, address substance use disorders, and facilitate access to life-changing resources.

How do Recovery Coaches Support Individuals in Recovery?

Our comprehensive intake process ensures that individuals are paired with a coach whose experience aligns with their specific situation. Our coaches actively engage with clients to understand their daily challenges, offering guidance to overcome obstacles without relapse. They visit job sites, address struggles at work, and help individuals develop crucial life skills like self-care.

Recovery coaches also bridge the gap between treatment and community by connecting individuals with local resources, including mutual support meetings. Attending meetings and community events in early recovery can be overwhelming and intimidating. SCO recovery coaches are there to guide individuals throughout their recovery journey, fostering belonging and hope.
